Activation videography

Brand activation and roadshow videography

Usable footage for your brand team, even while the crowd is moving and the activation is live.

In short

  • We film around your live activation, so queues, demos and staff keep working.
  • Agree the brand assets first: a highlight film, short clips, interviews or product close-ups.
  • Venue, mall and activation operator approvals are settled before the crew arrives.
  • Guests who appear on camera are handled through clear signage and a plan you approve.

An activation is filmed well when the footage supports the next campaign and the activation itself never stops. We plan the assets with your brand team first, then film around the live operation.

What we film at an activation

An activation is made of small repeating moments, not one stage programme. We typically cover:

  • Set-up and reveal: the booth, truck or installation being built, and the first look when it opens.
  • Guest interaction: people trying the product, joining the game, collecting a sample or taking part in the experience.
  • Staff and presenters: the promoter’s pitch, demo moments and short soundbites from your team.
  • Product and branding: clean close-ups of the product, packaging and signage for later use.
  • Atmosphere: crowds, queues and the energy of the space, filmed with care for people’s privacy.

Because the activation keeps running, we film in waves. One pass captures the moments as they happen, and a second pass picks up clean product shots when your staff can pause.

The assets you can ask for

Output What it is Best for
Highlight film An edited story of the activation Brand channels, internal reports, sponsors
Social clips Short cuts in vertical or square formats Posting during or soon after the campaign
Interview soundbites Short answers from staff or guests who agree Adding a human voice to the film
Clean product footage Close-ups without crowds or text Reuse in later ads and presentations
Same-day edit A short cut made during the event period On request, confirmed for each event

If you are unsure which of these your campaign needs, the event video selector gives a short list in plain language.

What we agree before the day

  1. The asset list: what the brand team will publish, where, and in which format.
  2. Venue and operator rules: camera positions, restricted zones and any notification the mall or venue requires. Our guide to filming activations in shopping malls lists the questions.
  3. Guests on camera: how visitors are informed, which areas stay off camera, and how children are handled.
  4. Multiple brands: if several brands share the space, how filming time and final footage are divided. See covering multiple brands at one activation.
  5. Approval: who reviews the edit, so feedback arrives in one place.

How we work on the day

The crew stays small and out of the queue. We agree an arrival time before opening, to check light, sound and power and walk the space with your lead. Guests are filmed as they naturally act, and we direct staff mid-demo only as you have agreed.

For a roadshow with several stops, the same plan can be reused, with changes for each venue. Our page on event series and roadshows covers how repeat stops are scoped.

Planning the hours and the shots

For an activation that runs many hours, we agree the time windows that matter most, such as the opening, the busiest period and any special guest visit.

Weather, crowd size and venue rules can change the plan on the day, so for outdoor roadshow stops we prepare a fallback shot list. Drone footage can be requested and is confirmed for each event; for a drone request we also plan ground shots.

List any signage, products or logos that must be visible in particular shots, so the edit later has the material it needs.

Tell us the dates and the assets you need, and we suggest how to fit filming around your operation. What moves the quote is the number of days or stops, hours on site, crew size, travel and the assets you want. See how pricing works.

Tell us the activation dates, the venue or route, and what your team wants to publish afterwards. That is enough for us to suggest how to cover it without slowing the activation down.

Questions people ask

Can you film without disturbing the activation?
That is the aim. We agree camera positions and walking routes with your team and the venue beforehand, keep the crew small, and avoid blocking queues, demo areas or entrances. Where a moment needs a pause, such as a hero product shot, we schedule it with your staff instead of interrupting guests.
How early should we tell you about the activation?
As soon as you know the dates and venue. Early notice lets us ask the mall or venue for its filming rules and plan the asset list with your team. A date and a rough idea of what you will publish is enough to start.
Do you cover a roadshow that visits several locations?
Yes. Tell us each venue and date, and we confirm the crew and travel for every stop. Each stop is scoped on its date, venue and hours. Our page on event series and roadshows explains how repeat stops are planned.
Who handles permission from the mall or venue?
Usually the organiser or activation operator holds the venue relationship, so we ask for the filming rules early and follow them. We can give you the questions to ask, such as camera positions, restricted zones and notification. Approvals are confirmed before the day, not on it.
How are people in the crowd handled?
We agree with you how visitors will be told they may be filmed, for example through signage, and which areas stay off camera. Close-ups of identifiable guests, and children in particular, are treated carefully. Your team decides how the footage will be published.
