Opening videography

Store opening and grand-opening videography

You welcome the guests, and our team keeps the moments of opening day.

Ribbon-cutting ceremony at a store openingSend your date and area. We suggest coverage and confirm availability.

In short

  • We film the ceremony, the first customers and the shop, so you can enjoy the day.
  • Decide early which moments help your next publicity, such as social posts or a shop-front video.
  • Mall or landlord filming rules are checked before opening day.
  • Short clips for social media and a main highlight film can come from the same shoot.

On opening day you are welcoming guests, so plan the video in advance. We agree the few moments that matter for your publicity, film them while you host, and give you short videos for your next marketing steps.

What we film on opening day

Most store openings are made of a handful of moments:

  • The shop before guests arrive: the clean interior, shelves, products and signage.
  • The ceremony: ribbon cutting, a blessing or doa, a lion dance or any performance you arrange.
  • The owner’s welcome: a short message to guests and customers.
  • First customers: people entering, browsing and buying, with their consent.
  • Promotions and special guests: any opening offer, giveaway or invited personality.

Tell us what your opening includes, and we plan around that programme.

Which videos can you get from opening day?

Social clips Short vertical or square cuts Posting on opening day and after
Shop footage Clean shots of the shop and products Adverts, delivery apps and later promotions
Ceremony recording The speech or blessing kept complete Family, staff and partners who could not attend
Same-day edit A very short cut that evening On request

What we agree before the day

  1. Priority moments: the must-capture moments checklist helps you rank them, so we know what cannot be missed.
  2. Timing: when the shop is ready for clean footage, and when the ceremony starts.
  3. Premises rules: whether the mall or landlord needs notice for commercial filming. Our guide to filming activations in shopping malls lists useful questions.
  4. Customers on camera: how guests are informed and which areas stay off camera. See permissions and responsible publication.
  5. Where it will be published: so we cut and format for the right channels.

How we work on the day

Tell us when doors open and when you expect customers. The crew is small and stays out of your customers’ way. Before the ceremony, we film the empty shop and check sound for the speech.

If you plan a lion dance or blessing, tell us the start time and where the performers will stand, so cameras and sound are placed before they arrive. If the programme runs late, we film the moments you ranked first. We film candidly, so you and your guests do not have to pose, and we check with you before filming anyone who may not want to appear.

If your opening is a short-run event, the guide to video for a pop-up event may fit. If you are hosting a sales event or workshop, see planning video for a small-business workshop or sales event.

Limits worth knowing

A grand opening can be crowded, and one camera operator cannot film every corner at once. We agree your top moments so those are covered first. For a busy programme, a second operator is available on request and confirmed for the day.

Customers can choose not to appear on camera. If a guest declines, we film around them. You decide how and where to publish the footage.

What moves the quote

A one-hour ceremony and a full day of promotions need different hours and crew, so each opening is quoted from its own scope. See how pricing works.

Tell us the opening date, the address and what the day includes, such as a ceremony, lion dance or promotions. We will suggest what to film and which short videos you can use afterwards.

Questions people ask

What moments should we film on opening day?
Most owners want the ribbon or ceremony, the blessing or performance, the owner's welcome, the first customers and the shop interior. Add any special promotions or guests. Our checklist helps you rank them, so the crew knows what cannot be missed if time is short.
Can you film the shop before guests arrive?
Yes, and we recommend it. A short session of the clean shop, products and signage before doors open gives footage you can reuse for months. Tell us when the fit-out will be ready, and we will plan the timing with you.
Do we need permission from the mall or landlord?
Possibly. Malls and managed premises often have rules about commercial filming, crew access and equipment. Check your tenancy or ask building management, and share the answer with us. We will follow the rules and confirm anything unclear before the day.
How long does the crew need to stay?
It depends on your programme. Some owners cover only the ceremony and first hour, others stay through the afternoon. We suggest hours from your schedule, and the written quote states exactly what is included. A shorter, well-planned session often serves a small shop best.
Can we get clips for social media straight away?
Short social clips can be prepared, and a same-day option is available on request, confirmed for each event. Say early if you want something posted that evening, so the editing time is planned and your approval is ready.
