Social clips

Event social video clips made for phones

Short clips your guests and followers will actually watch on a phone.

In short

  • Good social clips are planned during filming, because vertical framing differs from a normal wide shot.
  • Decide the platforms, the handful of moments, and who approves posts before the day.
  • Captions, names and music rights are agreed in advance.
  • Guest and performer permissions decide what you can post.

Social clips work best when they are planned before the event. A short vertical clip needs its subject close and central, room for captions and a clear moment. We film with this in mind, so the clips are made from footage that was shot to be cut that way.

Who are social clips for?

We make short clips for corporate events, product launches, school and university events, community gatherings, performances and weddings. Organisers use them to thank guests, show the event to people who missed it, promote next year’s date, or keep a social account active after the event.

Most are made for a phone, which means vertical framing and a clear point in the first moments. The clip might be a welcome, a speech quote, a performance, a reaction or a venue detail.

Which kinds of clips can you choose?

Clip type What it is Best for
Moment clip One short moment, such as a performance or a reaction Posting on the day or soon after
Speech quote A short extract with captions Sharing a key message. Speech rights and speaker approval apply
Montage A quick sequence of the event Recap posts, next-year promotion
Sponsor or brand clip A moment with logos and names shown properly Reporting back to sponsors
Reaction or interview Short answers from guests or speakers Authentic comments. See event interview filming

For a longer, planned story, see event highlight films. If the full words matter, ask for a full ceremony and speech recording.

What we agree before the day

  1. Platforms and shapes: where you post, and whether each needs vertical, square or landscape.
  2. The moments: a short list of what to capture, so the crew is ready for them.
  3. Approval: who reviews each clip, and how quickly you need to decide.
  4. Captions and text: whether you want captions, the language, and how names and titles are spelled. For more than one caption language, tell us early so spelling and translation checks can be planned.
  5. Music and rights: whether you have a licence, since a licence may not settle every right or platform rule.
  6. Permissions: who can appear. This covers guests, performers and especially children.

The must-capture moments checklist helps you choose the moments. For translated or accessible versions, see event video captions and subtitles.

How we film for social clips

We keep subjects close and central so a vertical crop still works, and we leave space for captions where we can. We also film short, clean takes, because a clip needs a beginning and an end that can stand alone. Audio is recorded cleanly where possible, since a clip with poor sound is hard to rescue.

For example, a product launch might plan five moments for vertical clips: arrivals, the reveal, one line from the speaker, a demo and a guest reaction. This is an illustration, not a past job. A short list like this lets the crew be in position for each one.

Because moments often happen at once, a second operator can help. See multi-camera event recording.

If you need clips on the night itself, a same-day edit is available on request, confirmed for each event. It depends on the schedule and a fast approval.

You review the clips before posting. What moves the quote here is the number and length of clips and whether you want captions, on top of hours and travel. See how pricing works.

Questions people ask

Can you cut social clips from a normal event recording?
Sometimes, but the result is weaker. A wide landscape shot cropped to vertical often loses faces and action. If clips matter, tell us before the day so we can frame for them, by keeping subjects central and leaving room for text.
Which formats do you make?
Most clips are made vertical for phones, with square and landscape available on request. Tell us the platforms and how you post, and we will agree the shapes and lengths that suit them.
How many clips can we expect?
The number is agreed in your written quote and depends on the event and the moments you choose. We suggest a plan from your brief.
Do you add captions and music?
Captions are available on request, because most people watch with the sound off. For music, we need to know whether you have a licence. Platform rules and rights can lead to a clip being muted or removed, so we confirm this early.
Can we post faces of guests and children?
That depends on permission from the guests or, for children, parents and guardians. Please check what your registration or notice says. We can frame to leave out particular people, and we film within what you confirm.
